Course aim:
The focus of this Mindfulness training will be to help nurses and health professionals in health organizations gain the necessary mindfulness based life skills and techniques which can then be taught to patients and clients. It will equip them to teach clients skills to empower and encourage them to have greater control of their lives in spite of illness. By empowering patients in this way there is an overall cost saving to the service provider in relation to follow on OPD appointments, the use of medication and A&E departments, and hospital beds. Nurses and health professionals trained in mindfulness life skills for patients and clients are more efficient and effective in their roles.

Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to have the following health benefits:

Course content:
- How to teach Mindfulness Life skills to patients and clients
- How to teach simple, easy, effective coping skills for patients and clients for dealing with health issues and challenges
- Empowering patients and clients to cope more effectively with chronic illness and health related issues and the effects of ill health.
- Teaching people Mindfulness Life skills to deal more effectively with physical or emotional pain
- Helping people to focus on the here and now, which bring calm and acceptance. for those with ongoing challenges
- Teaching people to become more aware of how illness affects interpersonal relationships
- Teaching people to cope with distress related to treatment, and to illness symptoms.
Course Duration –2 days
It is recommended that a follow-up full day/half day(depending on numbers and complexity) is integrated to the package as staff will be given the tools for improvement to practice with, and follow up allows for feedback, fine tuning, and increased confidence with support and practice.
Cost: €2000 – for 2-day package
€500 for follow up half day
