Children and Anxiety

Children and anxiety

According to this recent article by the Irish Independent ‘One in five primary school children in Ireland experience anxiety their parents say’.

One in five school children experience general anxiety and one in four experience ‘low moods’.

The article states that “the majority of primary school parents (91pc) want mental health first-aid training to be provided to teachers in primary schools”.

The Decider Life Skills approach

The Decider Life Skills programme gives this mental health first aid-training. It provides twelve skills informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). These skills will help children and teens to increase confidence and build resilience. It will help them to tolerate and manage distressing emotions and thus improve relationships.

Not only is The Decider for teachers it is to train social/health/support professionals to teach children and young adults skills to deal with emotional emergencies.
